Nikiti is a small town in north-west location on the peninsula Sithonia only 110 km from Thessaloniki. Nikiti is the administrative capital of Sithonia.

Nikiti is divided into 2 areas: the original village ‘Old-Nikiti’ in the inland and the new touristic area Nikiti on the seaside in 2km distance.

Benefited on its geographical location, the environment around Nikiti contains wide sandy beaches in the south as well as vast pine landscapes & olive groves in the north.

 

The main beach of Nikiti is a large open beach, easily accessible, with warm and crystal-clear waters. It is an ideal place for families with small children. It is easily accessible on foot or by car, from almost every point of Nikita, while it has many facilities. Thus, it receives a blue flag every year.

In addition, there are many beaches near to Nikiti such as Kalogria, a beautiful and popular beach just 5 km south of Nikiti. It is famous for its white sand and the rocky islet a few meters from the shore. There is a beach bar to the north of the beach offering umbrellas and sunbeds. It has easy access from the road, but parking is difficult during peak hours in the summer.
Another beautiful beach is Spathies. Probably it is the most beautiful beach near Nikiti and one of the most beautiful beaches in Sithonia.

For mountain lovers, a walk in Itamos is a challenge. It is a beautiful mountain, a protected habitat with important flora and fauna. It is suitable for walking or cycling routes as there are forest roads and many signs. There you can admire the amazing view of Toroneos and of Mount Athos.

One of the major events is the swimming marathons, named Toroneos Swimming Marathon, in which the participants must cross the Toroneos bay in competition. The contest starts from the village Kallithea, on Kassandra and ends after 26 km to Nikiti, Sithonia.

Further attractions are the honey festival. In the past agriculture, beekeeping and honey-production were the most relevant employment of the population of Nikiti.

Moreover, the place has delicious traditional food, such as ravani, which is the most famous dessert and many dishes with fresh fish.

To sum up, Nikiti is the ideal place for holidays as it combines beautiful landscape and a variety of activities.
